The AFTR chapter has also been active at various political rallies. Several members attended the annual Legislative Luncheon of the AFL-CIO retirees this fall while other members attended a rally in Trenton in support of our pension and prescription benefits. Just recently, the AFTR has kept its members abreast of changes in their medical benefits. Just after Labor Day some of the officers attended the annual AFT Conference in South Jersey to participate in a series of workshops.
The new president of the Federation, Bill Lipkin, is setting up a website for all aspects of the state's organization. Watch for more information here about that website.
In light of Governor Christie's proposed "reforms," members of AFTR may be called upon to take a more active role in lobbying for their own interests. We hope we can count on you when the call for help comes.
